Investigators were able to identify the woman found in a suitcase in Vigo, Spain, the publication reports. La Voz de Galicia.
Authorities believe she is a Spanish woman, about 50 years old, who lived in a rented apartment 200 meters from where the suitcase appeared.
The scientific police went to the guest house to collect evidence as they could not rule out that the crime took place there.
The tenant alerted authorities after discovering the house was in disarray. Neighbors complained of a strong odor coming from the house.
The victim lived with another elderly man, who remained in the boarding house even after his disappearance. The whereabouts of this housemate are unknown.
The suitcase was found on Thursday, February 22. Despite sister Isabel Lima’s expectations, the body will not be that of the Portuguese woman who went missing in September.
