CGTP-IN rejects minimum services in schools and says it is an infringement on the right to strike.

This Saturday, the CGTP-IN rejected the recent definition of a minimum service in schools, saying it is “unprecedented” in Portugal and that it “seeks to set a precedent to question the right to strike.”

In a statement, CGTP-IN reacted in this way to the Ministry of Education’s announcement that an arbitration board had ruled minimum services for an ongoing strike in schools organized by STOP – the Union of All Educational Professionals.

“The strike is the right of all workers, the greatest form of their struggle, the fundamental right enshrined in the constitution. It is an inalienable right,” says Intersindical.

And he adds: “The government is required to respond to the fair demands of workers, respect for their rights, guarantee safe employment, advancement in careers and professions, decent and valuable wages, as well as protecting and strengthening the social functions of the state – also by recognizing the workers who provide them” .

Last week, STOP rejected a proposal to protect minimum services that allow schools to open, provide meals and admit students with special educational needs, after which a Panel of Arbitrators was created, the decision of which was announced on Friday.

As of February 1, the Court of Arbitration will require teachers to provide support to students who are subject to additional measures within inclusive education, as well as students who are “particularly at risk of dropping out of school” and those who are signaled by the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth.

The minimum services also include the guarantee of therapeutic support, the admission of students to units integrated into the Learning Support Centers, and the continuity of measures aimed at the socio-emotional well-being of students as part of the restoration of learning. plan.
