Russian authorities do not want to publish the text of the Istanbul agreements on Ukraine, the Russian president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said at a briefing on March 1.
Peskov made this comment in response to a question from one of the journalists about the Wall Street Journal publication. The material contains summaries of the peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. This is alleged to be the text of an agreement already prepared for 2022, which was never signed.
“There was indeed an agreed text, but we would not like to publish it””Peskov said.
According to the president’s press secretary, the situation has changed and the old text is no longer relevant.
“In March 2022 there were some conditions, today there are other conditions and a different legal status for those territories that have become regions of the Russian Federation”Peskov said.
He also recalled that kyiv interrupted the negotiations on instructions from London.
Recall that The Wall Street Journal states that the agreement only included the recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. The fate of the DPR and the LPR, according to the published text, would be decided during personal negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine.
The comment to the material indicates that this document “based largely on the 1990 treaty that created a unified Germany”.
