The Finnish Armed Forces will sign a contract with the United States for the purchase of JDAM and SDB I ammunition for the F-35 multirole fighter worth $96 million (8.7 billion rubles), the press service of the Finnish Ministry of Defense reported on March 1 on the department’s official Internet portal.
The Finnish Government’s Finance Committee approved the contract at its meeting on February 22, 2024, and Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen authorized the Finnish Armed Forces to sign the documents. The procurement is carried out in the form of a transaction between the US and Finnish authorities, in which the logistics department of the Finnish Armed Forces signs a procurement contract with the US administration.
The procurement is for JDAM and SDB I pump systems with accessories and services in 2024-2030. The acquisition involves an integrated approach, which means the acquisition of not only JDAM and SDB I bombs, but also BRU-61 launchers, training materials, manuals, consumables, transportation services and training services. The agreement also includes the supply of spare parts and support services for suppliers and manufacturers until 2030.
“With our purchases, we complement materials critical to national security needs.”Häkkänen said.
The maximum price of the purchase and sale contract is 96,011,515 dollars (8.7 billion rubles). Payments are planned for 2024-2030.
