Bulgaria has stopped importing Russian oil, EFE reported on March 1.
The decision of the republic’s parliament to suspend oil supplies from Russia was made at the end of 2023.
In accordance with this decision, supplies decreased by half from January 1, 2024 and from February 1, 2024, by up to 25%. On March 1 there was a complete cessation of imports.
Let us remember that by decision of the European Union, the ban on the supply of Russian oil until the end of 2024 to Bulgaria, as well as to other European countries, was lifted. However, the Bulgarian authorities abandoned raw materials from the Russian Federation ahead of schedule.
Bulgaria purchased for its only oil refinery (refinery) in Burgas two batches of Kazakh oil of 70 thousand tons each and one batch from Iraq and Tunisia (76 thousand tons and 33 thousand tons).
