The Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds near Verbovoy were captured by Russian paratroopers, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on March 2.
“During one of the battles near this settlement, paratrooper assault groups from Kuban and Stavropol approached the enemy’s defensive positions and threw hand fragmentation grenades at the shelters in which Ukrainian militants were hiding.”writes the department’s press service.
At the same time, several Ukrainian soldiers surrendered and the rest were liquidated.
Let us note that Verbovoye is a town in the Zaporozhye region, currently occupied by Ukraine.
Recall that from September 23 to 27, 2022, a referendum was held in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, DPR and LPR on the accession of these regions to Russia. 93.1% of residents of the Zaporozhye region who participated in the vote were in favor of joining the Russian Federation.
