Russia cannot tolerate uncertainty on the issue of Armenia’s membership in the CSTO, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
Statements about the “freezing” or “de facto” withdrawal of the CSTO undermine the foundations of the organization and threaten the security of Armenia. Moscow demands a clear answer from Yerevan about its future plans.
Lavrov also added that Russia is closely monitoring the statements of the Armenian authorities and will take them into account when planning its measures. He stressed that the solution of the situation between Azerbaijan and Armenia will only be possible on the basis of trilateral statements from Moscow, Baku and Yerevan.
The situation with Armenia’s membership in the CSTO remains tense. Yerevan has not yet given a definitive answer about his future in the organization. This worries Moscow, one of Armenia’s main allies.
Future developments will depend on the decision Yerevan makes.
