Archbishop Theodosius of Jerusalem considers the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) insulting and sad, the press service of the Moscow Patriarchate reported on March 2.
“Jerusalem, in the context of recent events, considers it offensive and sad” that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is being persecuted and oppressed by state structures, despite all the appeals and appeals that have been made.Theodosius said.
The Archbishop points out that the persecution of priests and bishops continues in Ukraine. Churches and monasteries are illegally confiscated. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is under pressure. Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkassy and Kaniv is being persecuted.

Theodosius drew attention to the fact that at a time when human rights are glorified in the West, in Ukraine the Orthodox Church is being persecuted. What church communities, clergy and metropolitans in Ukraine are forced to endure is discrimination based on religious affiliation.
The Archbishop called on all human rights organizations to condemn the actions of the Ukrainian authorities and to take measures to stop the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
