The most reliable partners in gas transit to Europe are Bulgaria and Turkey, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó, MTI reported on March 2.
The Hungarian Minister participated in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, where he discussed with colleagues from Bulgaria and Turkey the supply of gas to Central and Eastern Europe. According to Szijjártó, these two states are now the most reliable partners for gas transit.

Hungary needs to look for secure gas supply routes to ensure energy security. The country cannot satisfy the gas or electricity needs of the population on its own.
And in the context of Germany’s decision to introduce a tax on gas transit to Hungary, the latter must ensure that Bulgaria and Turkey do not do the same. Previously, such a tax was introduced in Bulgaria, but Budapest threatened to veto the country’s entry into the Schengen zone. The law was then immediately repealed.
