7.5 thousand people participated in the “Global South Resists” demonstration, the press service of the Berlin police reported on March 2.
According to police, the protesters mainly came with pro-Palestinian slogans, but also called for an end to “colonialism, racism and white supremacy”. The protesters also called “Stop the genocide” and singing “Germany finances, Israel bombs”.
The protesters, gathering at 2:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. Moscow time), marched through the center of Berlin from the Neptune Fountain to Potsdamer Platz.
About 400 police officers maintained order. There were no serious incidents.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023, pro-Palestinian protests have regularly occurred throughout Germany.
Recall that in early November information appeared that Germany had significantly increased the volume of military assistance to Israel. From January to November 2023, Israel had around 303 million euros, 85% of this volume after October 7.
