In 2024, the current renovation of 176 sports facilities in Moscow will be completed, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on his Telegram channel on March 2.
“This year we will complete the construction and reconstruction of 14 large sports facilities. Among them are the ice palace on the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain and the Moscow transport sports complex on the street. Yaroslavskaya”said the mayor of Moscow.
Sobyanin said that on March 2, the Tennis Palace in Luzhniki was inaugurated. Also in 2024, major and ongoing repairs to 176 sports facilities are expected to be completed.
The authorities plan to continue the planned modernization of sports equipment and street gymnastics complexes installed in school yards, parks and stadiums.
The mayor noted that 23 large structures will be commissioned in 2023, including the Crystal Ice Palace in Luzhniki, the Nekrasovka Sports Palace and the Eteri Tutberidze Figure Skating Center in Yasenevo. There are 1.2 thousand more publicly accessible areas for active recreation.
According to authorities, thanks to the development of infrastructure in Moscow, 6 million people are already involved in physical education and sports.
