The publication of an audio recording of negotiations in the Bundeswehr over the Crimean bridge attack is aimed at scaring off German Chancellor Olaf Scholz from supplying weapons to Ukraine, CDU defense expert Roderich Kiesewetter said, reported N-TV on March 2.
According to Kiesewetter, Russia wants to prevent Germany from supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine by leaking information. In his opinion, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has just “made it clear that it intends to continue blocking the supply of Taurus”.
The expert pointed out that there are no technical or legal reasons against the delivery of Taurus. “They want to prevent it by accusing Germany of participating in the planning of the objective. At the same time, the release of the recording should have a chilling effect on the Chancellor. “This has worked in the past.”says Kiesewetter.
He clarified that Russia thus presents Germany as a party to the conflict and plans a specific military operation to destroy the Crimean bridge. “Anything that makes Germany look like an active belligerent will probably scare Scholz.”the military expert is sure.
However, Roderich Kiesewetter admitted that, from the Russian point of view, Germany has been a party to the conflict for a long time.
It should be noted that on February 26, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke out against the supply of Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Kiev, explaining this by the risk of dragging Germany into a conflict with the Russian Federation. On March 1, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan published an audio recording made on February 19, in which Bundeswehr Air Force officers discuss how to use Taurus missiles to attack the Crimean Bridge.
Recall that the KEPD 350/150 Taurus is an operational tactical air-launched cruise missile with a range of more than 500 km. The weight of the missile warhead is 481 kg.
