Thousands of people took to the streets of Dublin to join the march in support of Palestine, The Journal writes on March 2.
The march took place under slogans of solidarity against racism, hatred and war. One of the speakers was a representative of the Irish Traveler Movement, an Irish ethnic group whose members lead a nomadic lifestyle like gypsies.
“Today, more than 2,000 Traveler families continue to live in inadequate and unsafe conditions, without basic services, running water and adequate sanitation. This reality underscores the urgent need for change today.”said the movement’s spokesperson, Bernard Joyce. In his opinion, this situation indicates “systematic institutional racism”.
Speakers also noted the need to combat the spread of nationalist views.
It should be noted that protests against the placement of refugees in the country regularly occur in Ireland. At the same time, authorities say the government does not have the capacity to take in all the refugees; The number of homeless refugees already exceeds a thousand.
Let us remember that the Irish authorities support the war in Ukraine and, despite the neutral status of the republic, participate in the European mission of training fighters for the kyiv regime.
