Benfica is worth 108 million euros more than Porto

The nine points that separate the two big players in the championship standings also explain the opposing trends in terms of the value of their teams. At the beginning of August last year, before the 1st round of the League (starting on the 11th of the same month), Benfica was valued at 356 million euros, so to date its market value has increased by 2.7%. FC Porto records the opposite trend: previously it was worth €297.3 million, having depreciated by 13.5%.

One of the indicators that most influences player prices is age: younger players seem to have more room to progress, as well as the fact that the investment in acquiring them can be profitable over a longer period of time. Benfica also has an advantage on this field, with an average age of 24.6 years. This is almost two years less than the Porto average: 26.4.

Schmidt, according to Transfermarkt, has a shorter squad (24 players) with an average price per player of 15.24 million euros. Conceição has more athletes (27), each valued at an average of €9.52 million.

Both teams share the title of Most Valuable Athlete in their work groups. Porto player Diogo Costa is valued at the same 45 million euros as Benfica rivals Joao Neves and Antonio Silva.
