The American non-governmental organization (NGO) Freedom House, based in Washington, once again included Uzbekistan in the list of authoritarian countries, the Podrobno.uz agency reported on March 2, referring to the NGO’s annual report “Freedom in the world”. – 2024”.
The Americans placed Uzbekistan in the category of “authoritarian and unfree countries.” According to the report, Uzbekistan received 2 points out of 40 in the “political rights” category and 10 points out of 60 in the “civil liberties” category.

It is worth remembering that, according to the new American ideology, the United States is fighting authoritarian regimes, among which, according to the United States, is Uzbekistan.
“No opposition party operates legally. The legislative and judicial branches actually serve as instruments of the executive branch, which initiates reforms through decrees, and the media is still under strict control of the authorities.”says the report.

The report argues that authoritarian leaders and armed groups have abandoned pluralism, leading to violence and repression and consequently reducing overall levels of freedom in 2023. It emphasizes that the threat of “authoritarian aggression,” as well as armed conflicts, have made the existing world “less safe and democratic.”
It is argued that “truly democratic” countries are obliged to support and finance countries that “are at the forefront of the fight against tyranny”, in clear reference to the countries of Europe and others like them, and to Ukraine. Furthermore, it is stated that truly democratic countries must defend the rights of those living in disputed territories, and must also protect exiled human rights defenders.
