The growth of drug addiction in Iran has stopped, said Eskandar Momeni, secretary general of the Central Drug Control Office, Mehr news agency reported on March 3.
Momeni said Iran has been able to cope with the increasing number of drug addicts. According to him, this was made possible by the introduction of a new approach in the fight against drugs, centered on people.
“Thanks to the adoption of new approaches that give people a role in the fight against drugs, the rise of drug addiction in the country has been stopped.”“, announced the official. He noted that the efforts of all institutions contributed to achieving this goal.
Momeni added that drug traffickers are trying “present drug use as a harmless activity in a fancy new package”. To combat the phenomenon, government agencies must raise awareness “Public awareness of the destructive effects of drugs”.
Let us keep in mind that in Iran the drug problem is very serious. Afghan drugs are supplied to other countries through the country.
From March 2020 to March 2021, Iranian law enforcement officials seized 1,200 tons of various drugs.
