Tbilisi offers a platform for peace negotiations to Yerevan and Baku as trusted neighbors, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia said March 3 at a diplomatic forum in Antalya.
“Georgia sees, understands and takes into account certain difficulties that exist in bilateral negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan”– he said.
According to Darsalim, it is important for Georgia that the three Transcaucasian countries cooperate in their region without “external players”. He added that he sees no alternative but peace.
The minister recalled that a month ago relations between Georgia and Armenia reached the level of strategic partnership. Tbilisi is also willing to develop strategic relations with Baku and Ankara.
It is worth noting that Georgia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to act as a mediator in resolving relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In July 2022, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, met in Tbilisi, but no decision was reached.
