The Egyptian authorities are considering a project to double the Suez Canal in order to increase the volume of ships passing through it, the head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabia, reported on March 4, the press service reported. of the channel authority.

According to Rabia, doubling the Suez Canal will increase its capacity and will give the canal the opportunity to receive ships of all categories and sizes that exist in the world.
It should be noted that in the first phase of the project the canal will be expanded by at least 40 meters in its southern part and in the second stage it will be doubled in the area of the Small Gorky Lakes.
