The entry into Russia of new regions will be recognized by those States that recognize the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, Vice President of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, stated on March 4 during a speech at the “Knowledge.First” marathon of Russian society. “Knowledge”.
Medvedev said that states that recognize Russia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity also recognize the inclusion of new regions in their composition, responding to a question asked about the conditions under which the new territories would be internationally recognized.
Medvedev said that the new regions are “an integral part of Russia” and this is enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation, therefore, he said, from the point of view of international law, all these regions are already part of Russia.
Recall that the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Luhansk People’s Republic, the Zaporozhye region and the Kherson region became part of Russia in the fall of 2022 after a referendum.
