The head of Chinese technology giant Xiaomi, Lei Jun, decided to present proposals related to artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon initiatives, smart driving and smart manufacturing in the “Two Sessions,” Yicai reported on March 4.
According to Lei Jun, today, in various industries, the demand for personnel with basic AI skills has increased sharply, and there is a clear shortage of high-level AI talents. Therefore, in his AI proposal, Lei will propose popularizing AI from compulsory education, promoting the introduction of AI-related careers in universities and supporting large technology companies and educational institutions in the training of talents specialized in Applied AI.
The two sessions are the annual plenary sessions of the National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, which are the country’s top legislative and political advisory bodies, respectively. This year, “Two Sessions” will take place from March 4 to 11.
Regarding smart driving, Lei believes that China should standardize the application of driver assistance functions to create a safe driving experience and use vehicle data to improve the safety level of smart driving products, and regulate the application of autonomous parking functions to ensure safety in autonomous driving scenarios.
Regarding green and low-carbon initiatives, Lei recommends that China accelerate the construction of a carbon footprint database for manufacturing industries to promote international harmonization and mutual recognition, support the creation of a chain system green digital supply and explore the possibility of establishing a national system.
