According to these media, the congress of the lower and upper houses of the French parliament in Versailles approved it by 780 votes in favor and 72 against, providing the three-fifths majority needed to amend the constitution.
At this latest legislative stage, the Constitutional Bill relating to freedom to seek abortion was amended to include Article 34, which will now include “guarantees to the freedom of women to have voluntary termination of pregnancy.”
Voluntary termination of pregnancy has been legal since 1974.
