Montenegro says AD will ensure stability even if it wins by just one vote

The chairman of the PSD said this Friday that the AD will ensure stability by winning just one vote or half a million, thanks to its ability to unite, and said that the PS, if it wins, will divide the country.

“Can someone with such a culture of division give stability to the people, give stability to the society, give stability to those who want to invest in Portugal?” asked Luis Montenegro, referring to the PS, at the last rally of the Democratic Alliance (AD). ) campaign for early legislative elections on Sunday at Campo Pequeno in Lisbon.

At that moment, a noise was heard in the hall, coming from the roof of the arena, and Luis Montenegro remarked: “It must be, no, it must be no. I would even say: the answer comes from heaven.”

According to the PSD president, AD wants to form “a government that can arise by the will of the people” to “unite Portugal”, and “the main thing is stability, the main thing is controllability.”

“A government that, thanks to this legitimization, will be able to unite all sectors of society, the entire territory of Portugal, all people, all conditions, a government that does this already guarantees stability – regardless of whether it wins by a margin of one, in ten, in a hundred , for a thousand, for ten thousand, for a hundred thousand or for half a million,” he believed.

“Don’t worry. Firstly, the Portuguese people will provide us with stability. And secondly, it is we who will ensure it through our actions,” he emphasized.

Regarding the PS, he added: “The reverse is no longer true. Anyone who, even if hypothetically won by one vote, had to govern by dividing it, was already losing stability from the very beginning. Do you know why the majority of the PS fell? Because instability was within herself.”

Luis Montenegro dramatized Sunday’s choice, arguing that “it will have consequences for decades to come” and took the expression used by the PS: “We really need to turn the page. keep up the good work.”

The PSD president disputed the idea that PS governments had “turned the page on austerity”, asking: “Maximum taxes, minimum public services, what could be more austere than this? Have a per capita income that already exists. the bottom of the European table, what could be more austere than this?”

He then asked the Portuguese to “believe that Portugal is capable” of “doing much more,” promising that with the PSD/SDS-PP coalition the country would “create more wealth” and thus “guarantee true equality of opportunity.” provide good – to be.”

AD wants to “strengthen this strength” of society, reduce taxes and reward merit, encourage work so that every Portuguese “does a little more.”

“If we have already been able to discover the world, let us force the world to discover Portugal,” he said.

His final message was confidence in the decision of the Portuguese people: “I know that you will make the right decision, I know that we will change Portugal, and I know that we will give every person a better quality of life.”

PPM President Gonçalo da Camara Pereira, absent from the entire AD national campaign, was also not present at this rally, which was scheduled for 6:00 pm and started more than an hour later.

CDS-PP President Nuno Melo and PSD Mayor Carlos Moedas, President of the Lisbon City Council, spoke to Luis Montenegro on the stage of Campo Pequeno.

Campo Pequeno was filled with PSD, AD CDS-PP and Portuguese flags.

There were about 670 chairs spaced out for fans in the arena, as well as about 2,700 seats in the stands, which were filled until about 7 p.m., but were not completely occupied.
