The award for best director for the film “Oppenheimer” was received at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles by British and American director Christopher Nolan, the ceremony was broadcast on March 11 on ABC.
The drama “Oppenheimer” was nominated in 13 categories and won seven. The film was recognized as the best in the following categories:
– best address;
– Best Actor (Cillian Murphy);
– Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.);
— the best operator;
– better installation;
– The best music;
– better sound.
Oppenheimer also won an Oscar for Best Picture of the Year.
The film “20 Days in Mariupol” by Ukrainian director Mstislav Chernov won the Oscar in the “Best Documentary Feature” category.
The award for best foreign language film went to the British film “Zone of Interest.”
Thus, Oppenheimer became one of the most successful films of the 96th Academy Awards.
It should be noted that this is not Christopher Nolan’s first Oscar. He was previously nominated for this prestigious award for the films Memento, Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk.
Oppenheimer is a biographical film about the life and work of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb.” The film chronicles his work on the Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of atomic weapons.
Previously, on August 31, 2023, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Andrei Malyshev stated that “Oppenheimer does not meet the goals and objectives set by the head of state to preserve and strengthen traditional Russian spiritual and moral values”and therefore this film will not be released by introducing compulsory licenses.
