Benfica returned to their winning ways this Sunday against struggling Estoril Praia with a 3-1 victory in their 25th round match to restore the gap to Sporting, leaders of the first Portuguese football league.
At the Da Luz Stadium in Lisbon, the goals for the Reds were scored by Cocciu (15 minutes), Marcos Leonardo (45+2) and Thiago Gouveia (49), who even saw Rodrigo Gomes equalize at 22, but in the end They cruised to a comfortable win and now sit second on 61 points, behind one of the Lions who have a game in hand.
While Benfica are back on track after thrashing Porto (5-0) in the previous round, Estoril Praia remains in crisis: five games without a win, a second-round defeat in a row and falling 16 1st place, maintaining the “playoffs” with 22 points, just one point above the direct relegation position.
