This Sunday, Pope Francis called on the leaders of Palestine, Israel and the international community to “immediately” find a way of dialogue to stop the “death spiral” following the latest terrorist attacks in these territories.
“It is with great pain that I receive news from the Holy Land, in particular about the death of 10 Palestinians, including a woman, killed during the Israeli anti-terrorist military operations in Palestine, and about what happened near Jerusalem on Friday night, when seven Israeli Jews were killed by a Palestinian and three were injured as they left the synagogue,” said Pope Francis, quoted by the EFE news agency.
The pope referred to the escalation of violence between Israelis and Palestinians at the end of the Angelus Prayer, which he says every Sunday in front of the faithful in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
