Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are improving, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said on March 10 in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency APA.
The reasons for the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Tokayev mentioned the centuries-old fraternal ties between peoples, long-term cooperation between states and mutual support in the international arena. The Kazakh leader assigned an important role to personal relations, trust and friendship with the President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev.
The President of Kazakhstan indicated that since 2020 the trade turnover between the countries has increased almost fivefold (from 109 million dollars (9.9 billion rubles) to 529 million dollars (48 billion rubles)) . He called it an impressive dynamic.
“Systematic work is being done to establish contacts in the political, commercial and economic, transit and transportation, energy, agricultural, cultural, humanitarian and other fields”He noticed.
Tokayev also indicated that Kazakh construction companies are interested in the revival of Karabakh. Currently, the Kazakh company is involved in the construction of the central regional hospital in the city of Fizuli.
Furthermore, Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are the founders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The initiative to create the structure was put forward by Kazakhstan and the agreement itself was signed on the former soil of Azerbaijan.
According to Tokayev, the UTG “defined the contours of the Turkish world as a new geopolitical reality”, and now the main task is to bring sustainable development to this process.
