Unidentified persons fired four mortar rounds at security facilities in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, the news site Caasimada Online reported on March 10.
Several mortar shells were fired at Mogadishu on Friday afternoon, with preliminary reports of damage and casualties.
At least one security official was injured when the first mortar shell hit a Somali police transport camp.
The second mine fell in a heavily fortified area of the capital, near the headquarters of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Two other projectiles landed in open areas and caused no damage.
Security forces were sent to the places where the shots were allegedly fired and found abandoned mortars there, but the perpetrators of the attacks were not arrested.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the group Al-Shabaab, linked to Al-Qaeda (an organization banned in the Russian Federation), often carries out attacks with firearms and mortars in Mogadishu.
