
Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina won a resounding victory over American Sloane Stephens on March 11 in the third round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Indian Wells, United States.
Kasatkina, world number 12, lost the first set to Stevens (44th in the WTA ranking) 2:6. But then Daria changed the course of the match and won two games in a row with the same score 6:4. The match lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes.
During the match, Kasatkina made one ace, made seven errors on the second serve, and won six games on her opponent’s serve (15 break points in total). Stevens has not missed a single serve, nor committed a double fault and has converted six break points of the 16 achieved.
Daria Kasatkina will fight with China’s Yuan Yue to reach the quarterfinals of the prestigious competition.
The WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament will be held on outdoor hard courts from March 6 to 17. The total prize pool of the contest amounts to more than $8.9 million. The current champion of the competition in women’s singles is Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
