The Associação Desportiva de Arvore – United Security Forces is organizing a futsal solidarity tournament on Sunday in Vila do Conde to support GNR soldier Helder Amaral, sentenced to one year and two months in prison with a suspended sentence for crimes classified as physical integrity. We are talking about an attack on a citizen.
“This is a comrade widely known to the soldiers of the detachment where he serves, both for his impeccable military posture and for his personal character, virtues that are recognized by everyone who has passed through his career, right up to the present time, and which give him devoted friendship, affection and admiration, since he has already participated in several solidarity actions of our association to help people and especially children,” points out the sports association, which organizes several solidarity actions. The joint security forces add that the soldier believes he was “unfairly convicted” because, in addition to the suspended sentence, he was ordered to pay a fine of 2,600 euros, “an amount he cannot bear.” Helder Amaral is part of the GNR Porto intervention force.
The solidarity tournament will bring together teams consisting of professionals from the PSP, GNR, prison guards, fire brigades, civil protection units, INEM and private security elements. The event “Unidos ao Amaral” will take place on Sunday all day long in Pavilhã da Ribeirinha, in Macieira da Maya, Vila do Conde. “We call on all comrades from the security forces to unite in yet another case where a comrade has been unjustly convicted,” the sports association concludes.
