Judge Scott McAfee dropped three charges against Donald Trump and three against other defendants in the 2020 Georgia election manipulation case, the agency announced this Wednesday. Reuters.
According to court records, the judge found unsubstantiated allegations that the former president of the United States (US) and other defendants tried to persuade Georgian authorities to violate their oath of office.
The remaining 35 criminal charges, including ten against Donald Trump, remain in effect. The crimes include conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to deprive voters of the right to a fair election and witness tampering.
The election manipulation case in Georgia is one of four criminal cases the former US president faces. In February he was fined 329 million euros for corporate fraud.
The trial in the case of alleged payment to a former porn actress for concealing an extramarital affair will begin on March 25.
Donald Trump amassed enough delegates Tuesday to secure the nomination in the November presidential election, winning Republican primaries in Georgia, Mississippi, Washington and Hawaii.
