The Penafiel court sentenced this Thursday to two years and nine months’ suspended imprisonment for a student who attacked a teacher from a special needs class at a school in Felgueiras with an iron last June.
We are talking about attempted murder, for which a special regime for juvenile offenders is applied. The sentence is suspended for a period of five years. With a conviction, the use of coercive measures in the form of house arrest ends.
A student dropped his pants in front of a colleague with autism and attracted the attention of a 46-year-old teacher who told him the incident would be reported and the student would face disciplinary action. The teenager left the room, went to get a decent iron and returned to the room after a break. He attacked the teacher in the legs and head. Even when the teacher was prostrate on the floor, he continued to attack him. Then he ran away from school.
The victim suffered serious injuries to several parts of his body. He was first rescued by colleagues and school staff, and soon after by Felgueiras firefighters, who stabilized his condition and transported him to the Padre America Hospital in Penafiel.
