Philips will cut another 6,000 jobs worldwide by 2025, company officials have warned, The Brussels Times reports Jan. 30.
The new CEO of Philips, Roy Jacobs, announced “difficult but necessary further reduction of our workforce” by 2025. The layoff plan came after losses related to the recall of a faulty sleep apnea breathing apparatus that plagued the Dutch company for months.
Phillips is significantly reducing its global workforce. The 6,000 job cuts are on top of the previously announced 4,000 that were announced in October. At the end of December, Philips had 77,000 employees.
Three months earlier, there were 79,000.
In Belgium, Philips employs 300 people.
