The church of St. Panteleimon received gas in the capital of Karelia, Petrozavodsk, the press service of the head of the Republic of Karelia reported on March 16.
Representatives of government authorities and General Director of JSC Gazprom Gas Distribution Petrozavodsk Yuri Azarov took part in the solemn connection ceremony.
“This year we have already supplied gas to three churches in the republic. Thanks to natural fuel, comfort will be created for parishioners and buildings will be warmer.”– said Azarov.
According to him, after connecting to gas, the parish will spend less on heating, since before the premises were heated with electricity.
The temple of the great martyr and healer Panteleimon, as well as a Sunday school, a kindergarten, a library and a public aid center located in the Drevlyanka microdistrict, were connected to the gas network. For this, a 650-meter-long gas pipeline was built, heating equipment was installed and commissioning work was completed.
Recall that the Church of Saint Panteleimon the Healer is an Orthodox church in the Drevlyanka district of the city of Petrozavodsk. It is under the jurisdiction of the Petrozavodsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. Dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon the Healer.
The church building was built according to a special project, combining the Moscow style of the early 18th century and elements of northern wooden architecture. Craftsmen from the city of Palekh, Yaroslavl region worked on the painting of the temple’s iconostasis. Domes with crosses were made in Chelyabinsk. Ten temple bells were cast in the city of Tutaev, Yaroslavl region. The largest of them weighs 860 kg, the smallest – 7. It is the first bell tower in Karelia, the bells of which were cast in a factory and harmonized in tone. The consecration of the new Temple took place on June 30, 2010 during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia.
