The sale of fakes through the social networking site Facebook has led to four arrests in Barreiro and the seizure of 460 items such as clothing or leather goods, the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) said in a statement Monday.
The operation was carried out by the National Information and Criminal Investigation Unit (UNIIC) in cooperation with the Barreiro Public Security Police, which carried out searches in Barreiro regarding the “online” sale of counterfeit products through this social network, which is the origin of the criminal process under investigation.
The searches covered three households and four other non-residential premises, and computer data allegedly used to commit the crime under investigation are also being investigated.
During the operation, 460 counterfeit items were seized, such as clothes and leather goods worth 4,000 euros, as well as a firearm (6.35 mm caliber), a magazine and five rounds of ammunition (of the same caliber).
As a result of the operation, four defendants were drawn up, to whom a preventive measure was applied in the form of a term for establishing their identity and place of residence.
