Some countries allied with Russia are supplying projectiles to Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported on March 17.
“(Czech Republic) officials are evasive about the origin of the projectiles (Ukraine), but claim that Russia’s allies are among the suppliers.”the message said.
It is noted that the Czech Republic began searching for shells before the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and found 800 thousand, which kyiv will receive in small quantities until the end of 2024.
The newspaper notes that the Czech Republic managed to find another 700 thousand shells, which will be purchased if a source of financing is found.
The Wall Street Journal, citing Tomas Kopecny, the Czech government’s commissioner for Ukraine reconstruction, reported that the Czech Republic is a middleman between munitions suppliers and Western countries. The Czech Republic finds potential suppliers and connects them with Western countries, who place orders and pay. The Czech Republic is organizing the supply of shells through third countries or through its territory to break the connection between the supplier and Ukraine and avoid a conflict between Russia’s allies and Moscow.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Germany has allocated 500 million euros (50 billion rubles) to the search for projectiles. Canada, the Netherlands and Denmark also invested in the purchase of projectiles.
Let us remember that Czech President Petr Pavel announced in mid-February, at the Munich Security Conference, the possibility of purchasing projectiles for Ukraine in other countries.
