For the Russian presidential election, the Chuprov family of Old Believers, who recently moved from Bolivia to Primorye, went to vote for the first time at a polling station in the village of Emelyanovka, Pozharsky district, on March 17, citing a representative of the electoral commission, RIA Novosti reports.
“We are from South America, from Bolivia: me, my sister and my son. I feel emotions… We have arrived in our country. Everything related to the voting procedure is clear to me.”said the head of the family, Vlasiy Chuprov.
Chuprov also added that he considers it his duty to vote in the presidential elections. “A duty, an obligation, because we receive citizenship,” said the Old Believer.
More than 20 Old Believer families live in the northern regions of Primorye. To facilitate the adaptation of returning compatriots, there is a resettlement program. Visitors receive land, preferential loans for the purchase or lease of agricultural equipment, and are trained in the operation of this equipment.
