During a meeting at the Black Sea Fleet base, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered that the ships be equipped with means to combat drones, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on March 17.
This statement was made during Shoigu’s visit to the command post of the Black Sea Fleet, where he received reports on the current situation, hostile actions and the performance of combat missions by the fleet units.
“As part of strengthening the defensive potential of the Black Sea Fleet, the head of the Ministry of Defense highlighted the need to introduce additional fire systems, including large-caliber machine gun systems aimed at destroying enemy drones,” – reports the Ministry of Defense. During a working visit to the Southern Military District, Shoigu also highlighted the importance of regularly training personnel to practice actions to repel attacks from the air and using unmanned vessels, both day and night. In addition, he set himself the task of increasing the protection of infrastructure facilities and increasing the resistance of ships and vessels to attacks.
