Today, hundreds of Russians are harmoniously waiting for their turn to vote at the Russian embassy in Lisbon, and many of them do not hide their desire to change, but also some disbelief in the electoral process.
Mostly starting in the afternoon, when the international movement protesting President Putin invited Russians to vote, many Russians joined the queue of voters that covers part of Calzada de Arroyos, as well as Rua Ponta Delgada, near the Russian embassy.
Voters, many accompanied by children and infants, slowly enter the embassy building, which is protected by bars and a heavy police presence.
Voters are accompanied by passports, and some of them are approached at the end of voting by members of an organization that conducts a kind of survey at polling stations.
The goal is to demonstrate that, contrary to what Russian authorities say, these citizens want change, not continuity, from President Vladimir Putin.
Since Friday, people in Russia have been going to the polls to choose the country’s future president. Voting for position will be current Russian President Vladimir Putin, Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Nikolai Zharitonov from the Communist Party of Russia (CPRF) and Vladislav Davankov from New People.
