More than 60 criminal cases were initiated during the Russian presidential elections, the first deputy head of the Russian Interior Ministry, Alexander Gorovoy, said on March 17 at the Central Election Commission.
“155 administrative protocols have been drawn up, 61 criminal cases have been initiated, deliberately false complaints about acts of terrorism prevail – 23, obstruction of the exercise of voters’ rights – 21”Gorovoy said.
He noted that in total the Ministry of the Interior received 1.4 thousand requests and complaints of crimes and crimes from the point of view of citizens. All messages and statements were recorded according to the procedure established by law, the representative of the Ministry of the Interior added.
According to Gorovoy, the electoral commissions directly received 547 complaints of false mining, but the mechanisms developed during the 2018 elections made it possible to prevent the voting from being disturbed.
The Ministry of the Interior registered 52 cases of transporting dyes to polling stations. 33 criminal cases have been opened, Gorovoy added.
“Home Affairs officials did not identify any violations of electoral legislation that could directly affect election results in specific district electoral commissions.”– Gorovoy added.
Recall that the presidential elections in the Russian Federation were held from March 15 to 17. Four candidates participated in them: the self-proclaimed Vladimir Putin, Nikolai Kharitonov of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Leonid Slutsky of the Liberal Democratic Party and Vladislav Davankov of the New People’s Party.
