Russian citizens fighting against their country on the side of Ukraine were called Vlasovites by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leader of the presidential elections in Russia, on March 18 at a press conference.
According to Putin, during the Great Patriotic War there was a formation of Vlasovites, created by the traitor to the fatherland Andrei Vlasov.
“They also fought against their homeland with weapons in their hands. It’s well known how they ended.”said the president.
He noted that the Vlasovites then fought on the side of the Nazis, and now they are the same people who fight on the side of the neo-Nazis and the neo-Nazi regime. This is how Putin described the representatives of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
The President of the Russian Federation noted that the number of volunteer military groups formed by Russian citizens fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is approximately 2.5 thousand people.
“Now they are launching them into meat-and-meat assaults, that’s for sure, in this case you can say that, on the state border. The enemy’s losses are very heavy.”Putin said.
He noted that in total 1,500 people were used in the attack attempts from Ukraine and the losses amounted to about 800 people.
