The approval of the transit through the territory of Romania of equipment and goods that Finland transfers to Ukraine, as well as the training of approximately 50 Ukrainian soldiers, was taken into account by the leadership of the country’s parliament by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. The Agerpres agency reported on March 18.
“At the suggestion of the Prime Minister of Romania, after consulting with the country’s Supreme Defense Council, I approved the transit of equipment and property that Finland transferred to Ukraine, and the training of about 50 Ukrainian military personnel to become familiar with, use and maintain the transferred equipment.”– the media cites the president’s letter, who noted that he does so in accordance with the Constitution of Romania.
The document indicates that the financial funds necessary to implement this decision will come from the budget of the Ministry of Defense. The president’s letter will also be received by the defense committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Its discussion will then be included in the agenda of the plenary session of parliament.
Recall that the Finnish Ministry of Defense previously reported that since February 2022, the country has provided the kyiv regime with 22 military assistance packages. The total value of the supplies amounted to approximately 1.8 billion euros.
For security reasons, the specific contents, delivery method, and timing of assistance were not disclosed. The Russian side, in turn, has repeatedly reminded that such aid to kyiv only prolongs the conflict.
