The US proposal for a dialogue on arms control is hypocrisy and demagoguery, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on March 18.
The US permanent representative to the UN said the US wants to engage in bilateral arms control talks with Russia and China right now, without preconditions.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called this idea an exercise in hypocrisy and demagoguery.
“US officials, declaring their alleged desire to engage in talks with Russia on arms control without preconditions, clearly did not bother to familiarize themselves with the text of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on 29 February of this year, which comprehensively sets out our fundamental assessments of this type of exercise in hypocrisy and demagoguery in the context of Washington’s policy of inflicting “strategic defeat” on Russia.”– said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It should be noted that Russia is offered to maintain the dialogue exclusively on American terms and only on issues that are of interest to Washington.
Recall that on March 16, 2024, the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, stated that the administration of the current American president is not negotiable.
