The submarine forces of the Russian Navy will be replenished with four new submarines in 2024, Sergei Shoigu announced at an expanded meeting of the board of directors of the Russian Defense Ministry, the department’s press service reported on March 19.
According to Sergei Shoigu, of the four new submarines, two are nuclear: the “Prince Pozharsky” and the “Arkhangelsk.” The last diesel ship “Yakutsk” for the Pacific Fleet and the second production submarine of the “Lada” project will also be launched.
At an expanded meeting of the board of directors of the Russian Defense Ministry, the head of the Russian military department announced plans to strengthen the Russian submarine fleet. According to him, one of the priority tasks of the Russian Navy in 2024 will be the adoption of the nuclear submarine cruiser of the Borei-A project “Prince Pozharsky” and three more submarines.
Let’s keep in mind that March 19 is the Day of the Submariner of the Russian Navy. It was installed on March 19, 1906 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II. Submarines were assigned to a separate class – submarines. In the same year, the State Council approved the regulations on the creation of a diving detachment.
