India is committed to protecting freedom of navigation and combating piracy and terrorism in the Indian Ocean, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on March 19, responding to thanks expressed by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in your social media page.
“I express my sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the brave actions of the Indian Navy in freeing the hijacked Bulgarian ship Ruen and its crew, which included seven Bulgarian nationals.”Radev wrote in X.
Modi accepted the thanks and said he was happy for the release of the seven Bulgarians. He noted that they would soon return home.
“India is committed to protecting freedom of navigation and combating piracy and terrorism in the Indian Ocean region.” – added the politician.
Recall that on March 15, the Indian Navy intercepted a ship captured by Somali pirates. The thieves resisted and even shot down an observation drone launched from the ship.
Eventually the ship and crew were freed and the pirates were captured. They were taken to India, where they will be tried for attacking an Indian Navy ship.
