Five memoranda of understanding between Cuban and Russian biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies were signed on March 19 at the Cuban embassy in Moscow, reports the embassy of the Caribbean country.
The signing of the memoranda was presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Cuban government, the diplomatic mission and managers of Russian and Cuban companies.
The first of the documents was signed between the Russian companies BKF and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba (CIGB) for the clinical development and registration of the drug “Yusvinza” in Russia and the Eurasian Union.
Yusvinza was developed for the treatment of hospitalized patients with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 who are in serious or critical condition and in whom a hyperinflammatory state is suspected or identified.
In addition, an agreement was signed between BKF and the Center for Molecular Immunology of Havana (CIM) to complete the clinical and therapeutic development of the vaccine against advanced lung cancer “Cimavax” for the territory of Russia and the Eurasian Union.
The third agreement was signed by the general director of the Russian company Alfanil, Dmitry Chelovsky, and the deputy director of the CIM, Kalet Leon, for the clinical development and registration of the mutein product IL-2 in Russia and other countries.
