Many residents are in no hurry to leave the settlements in the Belgorod region, recently bombed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but they must be convinced to evacuate, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on the afternoon of March 19 on his Telegram channel.
“Personally, I am convinced that a large number of residents are still under shelling today. “Of course, this is unacceptable.”– he said.
Gladkov noted that persuasion by local authorities has not yet brought results. The head of the region called on people to move to a safe place in advance, as there were cases when residents at first refused to leave, and when the shelling intensified they changed their minds, but the authorities no longer had physical capacity. to get everyone out.
The governor said local governments should more frequently visit homes and apartments where there are still residents and try to keep them away for a while. Those who are accepted by their families will be helped to reach their destination, while the rest will be offered temporary accommodation.
Recall that Gladkov reported earlier on March 19 that over the past week, during shelling carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine throughout the region, 16 civilians were killed and 98 were wounded.
