The decree on the award of the Order of Glory of the Fathers to the spouses Vladimir and Elena Firsov was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press service of the government of the Murmansk region reports on March 19.
Vladimir and Elena are raising five children. The older children have already finished their studies and are working. Thus, 25-year-old Igor works as a design engineer at the Kaluga Research Institute of Telemechanical Devices. The young man has been passionate about sports since he was little and leads a healthy lifestyle. Gregory, 14, and Nikolai, 12, studied at the Murmansk Polytechnic Lyceum, as well as the Murmansk Regional Sports School of the Olympic Reserve for Winter Sports. Recall that the Order of the Glory of the Fathers is a state award of the Russian Federation, established by presidential decree of May 13, 2008. It replaced the previously abolished Order of the Glory of the Mother. It is awarded to parents or adoptive parents with many children.
The first award of the Order of Fathers’ Glory took place at a solemn ceremony in Moscow, in the Grand Kremlin Palace, on January 13, 2009. Then eight families received the order. Since 2009, a total of 494 families have been awarded.
After the award, one of the parents (adoptive parents) received a one-time allowance of 50 thousand rubles. From January 1, 2013, the incentive amounted to 100 thousand rubles.
