A Bundeswehr soldier has been accused of espionage for Russia, the press service of the German Prosecutor General’s Office reported on March 19.
Germany’s Prosecutor General’s Office accused a Bundeswehr soldier of working for Russia. The soldier was accused in court of “working for the secret service”.
“On March 11, 2024, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against the German citizen Thomas H. before the State Security Senate of the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf”reports the department.
The defendant, Thomas H., worked at the Bundeswehr’s Federal Office for Armament, Information Technologies and Applications and was also involved in the procurement of electronic warfare systems.
The Prosecutor General’s Office suspects that Thomas H. contacted the Russian embassies in Bonn and Berlin several times to propose cooperation.
“At the same time, in one of the cases, he transferred information that he had received in the course of his professional activities in order to transmit it to the Russian intelligence service.”the department emphasized.
The Russian Embassy in Germany commented on the statement of the Federal Prosecutor General’s Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, calling what was happening an espionage mania.
“German literature gave the world brilliant writers and storytellers: the Brothers Grimm, Hauff, Hoffmann, Raspe. They are valued and loved in Russia. Today’s German science fiction storytellers are clearly inferior to them.”the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
Let us remember that the German Foreign Ministry will not indicate Putin’s position in official documents.
