The duty shifts of the control centers and ship crews of the air defense posts of the Baltic Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet carried out a joint exercise to repel an air attack of the mock enemy, the service reported press release of the Ministry of Defense of Russia March 20 on the official Internet portal.
The crews of more than 10 surface ships (small ships and missile boats, small anti-submarine ships and minesweepers) practiced training tasks. In addition, the air defense teams of the coastal units of the Baltic naval base participated in the exercise.
The air attack of the mock enemy was simulated by Su-24 bombers and Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters of the naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet. During the exercise, the military prepared ships and coastal units for the use of air defense systems. Combat post operators detected and classified aerial targets. Approaching the firing line, the targets were conditionally destroyed.
During the exercise, the military also practiced the organization of command and control of air defense forces and means to repel air attacks against their bases. The distribution of targets and the establishment of firing missions were practiced through various communication channels.
