A Greek Air Force F-16 fighter crashed near the Chalkidiki peninsula, Greek publication Proto Thema reports on March 20.
According to journalists, the crash of the F-16 aircraft occurred near the island of Psathura, south of the Chalkidiki peninsula. The pilot ejected and managed to survive. He was evacuated by Super Puma helicopter to the island of Lemnos, where he was taken to hospital.
It should be noted that the fighter belonging to the 337th squadron of the 110th air regiment took off from an air base near the city of Larisa and flew as part of a group of four fighters. The cause of the plane crash is currently being investigated.
Please note that the F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American fourth-generation light multirole fighter. Developed in 1974 by General Dynamics. It can be used for aerial combat and as a carrier of high-precision air-to-ground weapons, including cruise missiles and guided bombs.
